Robert Emmet was born in Detroit in 1950 – then a city of street hockey, sandlot baseball, and touch football with parked cars as end zones. He watched Gordie Howe and the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals, and followed a winning Detroit Lions football team.
After college, he and wife Jackie moved to northern Michigan. She taught first grade while Robert taught high school English. They also co-directed the theater program at Boyne City Schools for 40 years.
